Top 10 Rules to Find a Yacht Job

These are my top 10 rules when comes to find a yachting job!
  1. Start dayworking (if you don't have any yacht experience) and gain relevant experience. Having previous experience in the marine industry, even if it is not specifically with yachts, can be an advantage when applying for yacht jobs.

  2. Obtain the necessary qualifications: Ensure that you have the necessary certifications, licenses, and qualifications for the job you are seeking, such as STCW certification, RYA training, and a yachtmaster certificate and so on.

  3. Network: Attend yacht shows, industry events, and join professional organizations to meet people in the industry and increase your chances of finding a job.

  4. Keep your Yacht CV up to date: Highlight your experience, qualifications, and skills that are relevant to the yacht industry. Ensure that it is well-written, professional, and tailored to the job you are applying for.

  5. Be flexible: Be willing to start at a lower level, work long hours, and be away from home for extended periods of time.

  6. Stay physically fit: The yachting industry demands a lot physically, and it is important to stay in good shape and health to keep up with the demands of the job.

  7. Develop interpersonal skills: Good communication skills, teamwork, and the ability to work well under pressure are essential when working on a yacht.

  8. Be proactive: Take the initiative to learn new skills, improve your knowledge of the industry, and volunteer for tasks to show your commitment and dedication.

  9. Be reliable: Yachts operate on strict schedules, and it is important to be punctual, reliable, and trustworthy.

  10. Maintain a positive attitude: Yacht jobs can be challenging, and it is important to maintain a positive attitude, be respectful, and have a willingness to learn and improve.
