THE WORLD'S FIRST YACHT OF HYDROGEN FOR 644 MILLION DOLLAR M/Y AQUA
The popularity of electric vehicles in recent years has somewhat pushed into the background vehicles which engines are running on PETROL elements. Nevertheless, HYDROGEN is preparing to give battle to ELECTRICITY, and today we will look at the prospects of this element in the context of the energy future of our planet. Hydrogen is the simplest and most abundant chemical element in the universe. Hydrogen is used by stars, including the Sun, to release a huge amount of energy as a result of thermonuclear reactions.
Despite its simplicity and prevalence, hydrogen is not found in free form on Earth. Due to its lightweight, it either rises into the upper atmosphere or enters into a bond with other chemical elements, for example, with oxygen, to form water.
The interest in hydrogen as an alternative energy source in recent decades has been driven by two factors. First, pollution of the environment with fossil fuels, which is the main source of energy at this stage of the development of civilization. And secondly, by the fact that fossil fuel reserves are limited and, according to experts, will be depleted in about sixty years.
Hydrogen, like some other alternatives, is a solution to the above problems. The use of hydrogen results in zero pollution, as the energy produced by-products, are only heat and water. Which can be also reused for other purposes. Hydrogen reserves are also very difficult to deplete, given that it makes up 74% of the substance in the Universe, and on Earth. It is part of the water, which covers two-thirds of the planet's surface.
Nowadays superyachts seem to be consolidating their position as the preferred kind of transportation used by the richest people on Earth. It also seems that this type of transport is looking for qualitatively new ways to make the extracted energy more environmentally friendly. According to the latest news from the yacht show in Monaco, AQUA will be the world's first hydrogen-powered superyacht.
Designed by the Dutch company Sinot Yacht & Architecture Design, AQUA is almost 122 meters long and is operated entirely by a renewable energy source. "Water is the eternal fuel of life, the life-sustaining force that makes planet Earth habitable," said Sander Sinot, founder of the manufacturing company. "The water is soft, but at the same time it cuts its way through hard rocks." It was this assessment of the water that helped the company find a balance between the natural world and the technological world. The propulsion system consists of two 28-ton vacuum tanks, each of which contains liquefied hydrogen, which is stored at -252 degrees Celsius. In addition to being environmentally friendly, hydrogen energy means a more relaxed experience on board the ship compared to traditional engines. However, spare diesel generators will be installed if the master ever needs them.
Rumors reveal that there is already a buyer who has paid already the huge price of 644 million dollars. There were reports on the Internet that billionaire Bill Gates had bought the superyacht, but this information turned out to be fake. However, readers cannot be accused of believing such speculations, as the images show that AQUA includes its own pool, helicopter, spa, and gym - facilities designed to attract billionaires like Gates.
AQUA can reach speeds of up to 32 km / h and has enough space for 14 guests and a 31-member crew. The company plans to complete the ship by 2024.
